BAY CHAIR

BY JAMES QUINAZ

Made entirely out of materials found in Biscayne Bay, BAY CHAIR aims to draw attention to the pollution crisis facing Miami’s mother lagoon. 100% of the proceeds from this piece were donated to Miami Waterkeeper, a non-profit organization working to keep our bay safe. Learn more about the issues facing Biscayne Bay on their website.

More from Miami Waterkeeper

The issues facing Biscayne Bay are multi-faceted, and Miami Waterkeeper works alongside several stakeholders to tackle these issues. One of the most pressing complications includes nutrient pollution and septic tank failure in Miami-Dade County. The high levels of nutrients enter our waterways, offset an ecological balance, and lead to instances like fish kills or algae bloom events like we saw this past summer.

The average Miamian can help! Our mission is made possible by a grassroots effort among the greater community. One example would be to stay vigilant of upcoming fertilizer ordinances throughout several municipalities. This is a great way to speak up on behalf of our Bay and give public comment.
